These writing cluster meetings are designed to support Year 6 teachers in developing and articulating their teacher assessment judgements through professional dialogue.
The sessions provide opportunities to:
– Standardise writing judgements using the Teacher Assessment Framework (TAF) and nationally available resources
– Consider pupils’ writing in relation to statutory standards
– Learn about national messages from the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) regarding end-of-KS2 writing assessments
Working in pairs and small groups, teachers will explore different aspects of the TAF and evaluate evidence in their pupils’ writing. Through collaborative discussion, they will gain a clearer understanding of statutory expectations and reflect on implications for teaching and learning.
This session is intended to:
– Support teachers in understanding statutory assessment arrangements for writing at the end of KS2
– Deepen understanding of KS2 teacher assessment standards for writing
– Provide opportunities for standardisation and moderation activities
– Develop teachers’ judgements in preparation for end-of-year writing assessments
Preparation:
Teachers are required to bring pupil writing books to the session for moderation with colleagues from other schools.
Although primarily aimed at Year 6 teachers, Year 5 teachers, KS3 English and literacy teachers, secondary English heads of department, and literacy coordinators are also welcome to attend.
