This joint training session is designed to support Year 4 and Year 5 teachers in making accurate and consistent judgements about writing standards across schools. It will focus on developing a shared understanding of end-of-year expectations in writing, using the Croydon Teacher Assessment Frameworks.
Teachers will have the opportunity to:
– Share and agree end-of-year expectations in writing for Years 4 and 5.
– Undertake standardisation activities to ensure consistency of judgements.
– Work collaboratively in small groups to compare pupils’ writing, identify strengths and areas for development, and agree next steps.
– Reflect on language choices and word selection as well as punctuation for effect when assessing writing.
– Delegates will receive access to Croydon’s progression guidance and optional teacher assessment framework documents for writing.
Teachers will be required to submit three pieces of writing for each of two pupils who are working at or close to end-of-year expectations.
