"Providing innovation, excellence and expertise to schools and academies across London and the South East."
"Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit."

As teachers we all understand the value of maths in our lives, from the engineering that goes into the vehicles that help us get to work, to the science behind the thermos that keeps our coffee hot, to the technology that (sometimes!) helps us to teach incredible lessons. But do our pupils?
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) allows maths to create meaningful links across the curriculum and build those vital links in a child’s schema between the world around them and the maths they learn in school.
This session will explore ways that we could build STEAM learning into our already packed primary school curriculum in a meaningful way and will give teachers an opportunity to plan how to bring this creative approach to their own setting.
This session will support teachers to:– Understand the different ways that STEAM learning can be built into their current curriculum.– Understand the value of making meaningful links between subjects (including maths) to enrich their children’s educational experience.– Explore how maths could be introduced into existing art, science, computing & DT lessons to provide a rich context for learning.– Work in pairs/small groups to make a plan to bring STEAM learning into their context using the different strategies explored in the session
It would be ideal to have two members of staff from one setting with different subject responsibilities to promote a collaborative approach.
