Overview

Governor Panels dealing with pupil exclusions are one of the instances in which Governors can be involved in the leadership and management of the school outside of formal governance meetings. The Clerk will play a key role in ensuring that the Governor Panel follows its statutory obligations when dealing with pupil exclusions. In light of the updated (September 2023) statutory exclusions guidance, it is important that Clerks are aware of and understand the key changes.

This course is non-chargeable for those schools with an annual Octavo Governance training contract.

Description

The material covered in this session will assist Clerks’ development in relation to Key Competency 1 (Understanding Governance), Key Competency 2 (Administration) and Key Competency 3 (Advice and Guidance) within the Clerking Competency Framework.

A place must be booked beforehand in order to be able to attend the training session. Those delegates who have booked a place by 5pm on the day before the session will receive, via an email, a Microsoft Teams meeting link which will be needed to join the session. To ensure the security of the virtual meeting, Governors who have not booked and not been sent the link will not be allowed to join the training session.

For those Governors whose schools have purchased a training contract with Octavo Governance, attendance at these sessions will be at no additional charge; Governors whose school have not purchased an Octavo Governance training contract are warmly welcome to attend our virtual sessions for a fee of £115 plus VAT per delegate per session
