Overview

The mental health and wellbeing of both pupils and school staff remains a key focus on the educational and governance landscape. An effective Governing Board needs to understand its role and responsibilities in ensuring and promoting the wellbeing of its staff and pupils, as well as the questions it should be asking of its Senior Leadership Team.

This course is non-chargeable for those schools that have an annual Octavo Governance training contract.

Description

Led by an experienced Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor, this development session will provide Governors with the opportunity to explore:
•The teaching of mental wellbeing, which is an important part of the statutory Relationships, Sex & Health Curriculum;
•Supporting staff and student wellbeing;
•DfE guidance will be considered and explained, specifically around the role of Governors; and
•The key questions that Governors should be asking the strategic leadership team.

Those delegates who have booked a place by 5pm on the day before the session will receive, via an email, a Microsoft Teams meeting link which will be needed to join the session. To ensure the security of the virtual meeting, Governors who have not booked and not been sent the link will not be allowed to join the training session.
