Following the publication of the Government’s guidance on supporting Mental Health and Behaviour in Schools, many schools are considering ways to expand their support for emotionally vulnerable pupils. Croydon Education Partnership’s EPS are pleased to announce that we will be running the very successful ELSA training programme again. This intervention will coach staff to develop and deliver targeted Emotional Literacy and Wellbeing interventions in their schools.
What is ELSA training? ELSA training gives Teaching Assistants the knowledge and skills they need to plan and deliver individualised programmes of support to pupils with additional emotional health and wellbeing needs. Successful ELSAs are able to work independently and creatively; develop good rapport with pupils; and have a strong desire to learn. First developed by Hampshire and Southampton services, ELSA training has been successfully delivered to Croydon Schools since 2011. In that time staff from primary, secondary and specialist settings have been trained and are working actively as ELSAs in their schools, with very positive outcomes. The price of the ELSA training is £650 per booked delegate.
Trainers: Educational Psychologists, Jo Blanchard and Susan Moore
The cost of this training course includes: * five one day training sessions delivered by Educational Psychologists; * a Course Handbook (RRP £36.99); * one follow up group supervision facilitated by an Educational Psychologist (RRP £33); * and refreshments (does *not* include lunch).
In order to safely practice as an ELSA, ongoing ELSA Supervision is required after the training is completed. More information will be provided during the course. If any questions, please contact us at edpsychology@croydon.gov.uk
