This course is aimed at new Designated Lead Safeguarding leaders in schools, early years settings (within a primary school) and colleges and fulfils the statutory requirement for accredited training. It will provide you with a clear understanding of the key responsibilities of this role and how to carry them out effectively in your setting.
This course covers:
•The key responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead
•An overview of statutory guidance relevant to your role
•Further learning about recognising and responding to abuse
•Accessing training and support
•Pathways for referral, assessment and early intervention
•Procedures for recording and sharing of information, including consent
•How to create a positive safeguarding ethos, for children and for adults
•Learning from serious case reviews relevant to education settings
•Engaging with parents and families, and working with external services and agencies
•Acting as a source of advice and support for other staff and adults in your setting
